God – our moral compass

“I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than live my life as if there isn’t and die to find out there isAlbert Camus

With God as our moral compass we have a shot at the path to peace and happiness, without Him in that role we are ceratin to get lost and remain lost.

Karma – Project Management of Life

Karma is, for all purposes, project management of life – project being all things we need to do, management being how. If we applied best business practices to our personal lives and relationships, relationship retention scores will improve, ROI on emotional investments will be high and chances of being happy for longer brighten, so it makes sense to act best at home and when off work than not.

Take those MBA, PMP, Black-belt skills and lessons to heart and build love and relationships on them as love and home don’t deserve or need less than business. Education refines so seek refinement.

Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid, but know that that means prudently, sensitively, kindly bold or mighty forces could also crush. And since it’s all here and now, the cause and effect as real as squandered or earned promotions and profits, be cognizant, manage expectations, and give more – just enough is not enough.

Behind our own doors

“A man will be imprisoned in a room with a door that’s unlocked and opens inwards; as long as it does not occur to him to pull rather than push” – Ludwig Wittgenstein

We could spend our lives being centrifugal – dissipating our energies – by pushing others away or build bonds of attraction that fructify and multiply our efforts – and the start is simple: get with those who build harmony between us and ours.

2 core virtues

Charity and Compassion are 2 defining traits that make us virtuous, without these the road to God is blocked.

Univocally decency is a requisite for piety.

Find the inner strength to be generous with both as Capricious, Cruel and God do not co-exist.

Tulsi Das says, “दया धरम का मूल है, पाप मूल अभिमान! तुलसी दया नो छोडिये, जब लग घट में प्राण

The must nots

Nothing justifies, therefore nothing forgives:

  • Rape
  • Cruelty
  • Adultery
  • Violence against the weak
  • Adulterating edibles for profit
  • Polluting Earth for gain
  • Praying to and worshiping human beings called Gurus

All are acts of poor judgment and weak character, therefore will draw harsh consequences sometime in life.

Though the last is not a crime against humanity, it is a sin against oneself as it leads to practiced delusion and distance from real God.

You in the mirror

If you hold a mirror up to you, you will see the face of the person who will lead you to God or away from Him, and in that mirror, if you look hard, you will also see not just you, but also the people you have made happy, and those you’ve made sad.

That mirror is the holiest of holy books, because what it shows is the eternal truth about you.

Day before Diwali

We pray that Lakshmi finds you attractive and interesting enough to be with you always.

So scour your house, cleanse your soul, sharpen your skills and woo her like an ardent lover, failure not being an option, for without Her what would you be?

Let Diwali be the new beginning of the new you, shades and degrees better than the you on the day before Diwali

DhanTeras

Today is DhanTeras, the day of prayer for wealth. It comes each year on the 13th lunar day of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin.

Story goes that a young princess saved her husbands life this day by deflecting Yama’s attention to bhajan’s she sang, and diyas she lit.

So the moral of the story is, “Human endeavor can avert disaster”, and that’s the fact to remember as the world reels through these changing times.

We are our own saviors. If we create our own blessings then God and Happiness will be ours. If we wait for some external being to intervene and improve our lives then we will wait in vain forever.

As you light the deeyas and sing Laksmi bhajans; pray for strength, stamina and courage to go win your own wars.

It’s your choice, so Win, by choice.

Happy DhanTeras!
